I am responsible for maintenance of equipment and facilities in rest area, including water and waste water treatment.
This position is considered journey construction worker position. It involved all aspects of inside and outside heavy construction and building trades type work. This was not maintenance position. I was required to have a good background in all aspects of construction and trades work. I was required to travel away from home sometimes, work in all weather conditions, and/or wear a respirator for prolonged periods of time. This position also involve physical activities associated with construction work such as lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 100 pounds, bending and stooping and working at heights of up to approximately 50 feet.
Position involved working irregular schedules, overtime, weekends and holidays, in all types of weather, under hazardous conditions, on congested highways, obstructed roads, high structures, around operating equipment, and/or a noisy environment. Also involved physically demanding tasks such as clearing brush and lifting and carrying heavy objects. Frequent travel to and from the work site with some overnight stay at times. Was required to live within 30 minutes from my workstation and to be on call, also required to work with chemicals and toxic materials. I used highway plans, specifications, maps, and aerial photos. I performed algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric calculations. I coded data for computer input, write legible reports and records, and maintain and update manuals, files and records. Communication with co-workers and the public on a frequent basis was mandatory.
