As a Medical Scribe, I support physicians by accurately documenting patient encounters in real time, including histories, physical exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans. I ensured timely and precise documentation to facilitate patient care, streamline provider workflow, and support billing and reimbursement processes. By managing electronic health records and verifying patient information, I helped prevent discrepancies and improve overall data integrity. I also conducted follow-up research to resolve unclear or incomplete information and took on additional administrative tasks, such as retrieving lab results, to reduce provider workload. Consistently recognized for attention to detail and efficiency, I demonstrated strong multitasking skills and maintained high accuracy under pressure in fast-paced clinical environments.

As a Pharmacy Technician, I contributed directly to patient safety and care by accurately processing prescriptions, verifying patient information, and identifying potential drug interactions or contraindications. I developed a strong understanding of pharmacology and medication management, which allowed me to communicate effectively with patients regarding proper medication use, side effects, and safety concerns. By collaborating with pharmacists and healthcare providers, I supported clinical decision-making and ensured timely prescription fulfillment. I also trained new team members, improved pharmacy organization systems to enhance efficiency, and managed financial transactions to ensure smooth patient experiences. This role deepened my understanding of the healthcare system and strengthened my communication, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality patient care—skills I will carry into my future as a physician.

During the summer of 2024, I participated in the Future Physicians Program at Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital, a competitive opportunity designed for pre-medical students to gain firsthand exposure to the medical field. Throughout the program, I shadowed physicians in various specialties, including, but not limited to, pathology, orthopedic surgery, and emergency medicine. This experience allowed me to observe the day-to-day routines of physicians, their interactions with patients, and their collaboration with healthcare teams. I developed valuable insight into clinical decision-making, diagnostic processes, and the demands of different medical specialties. In addition, the program provided opportunities to build professional relationships with providers and strengthened my communication, professionalism, and understanding of what it means to be a physician.

As a Tutor, I conducted personalized academic support sessions in schools, homes, and public spaces, adapting my approach to meet each student’s unique learning style and needs. I collaborated closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies that promoted student success and long-term academic growth. In addition to subject-specific tutoring, I served as a consistent resource for students and families, offering guidance on study habits, test preparation, and academic planning. This role strengthened my communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills—qualities essential for building trust and delivering effective, compassionate care in clinical environments.

As a Lab Teaching Assistant in biology labs, I supported students in understanding complex biological concepts by providing hands-on assistance and guiding them through experiments. I helped grade lab reports and assignments, offering constructive feedback to enhance students’ scientific understanding and lab skills. I effectively managed lab settings, ensuring that students adhered to safety protocols and maintained focus during experiments. Additionally, I coordinated with professors to prepare lab materials and maintain an organized, efficient learning environment. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate scientific concepts clearly, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively—skills I can apply to both patient education and interdisciplinary teamwork in the medical field.
