I took care of my son for 16 yrs. He was quadriplegic was on a ventilator, took medication,g tube also. After the first few yrs . The pediatric home health companies would send there nurses in training to our home to train to make sure they are ready to go out on there own. I've changed trachs at least 1000 times ran a ventilator. I can change out a G button. Oral care I can work with a standing frame and all types of equipment.ive been around pediatric care 24 7 for the last 16 yrs. I have been complimented on my son's care and have a long list of pediatric owners, nurses and even a few world renown doctor's that will tell you the same. In 16 yrs my son was on this earth he never had a bed sore once. He also had a brain infatuation or tbi from a shunt malfunction around 2 yrs old. I never left his side at the hospital the first 2 yrs.i basically lived there . I took a class at our children's house at Baylor. Brought him home.he was born with a rare gene mutation.called phifer syndrome.had a shunt put in in ks.it malfunctioned and cause his brain stem to push to the bottom of his skull.called a infart.so his brain stem was damaged loosing his signal from his chronic nerve that controls breathing .he was also paralyzed.so I dedicated my life to getting him better. He was only suppose to live 6 months tops. But lived till he was 16. He went in for a routine bladder scan . And while in there he passed away. We moved back to Arkansas city ks now . I have a very high skill set. And have been asked to do a short class on track changes at a hospital in dallas. He was on a ventilator also any type of breathing treatment.or precutionairy breathing treatment is no problem. My son was the highest. Iq patient in the dfw area.he had to have 24 hr care.7 days a week. Maybe I can help other kiddos now.
