Power System Design
Radiance Technologies
Designed the power distribution system for a 50 kW Laser System as part of the High Energy Laser Mobile Test Truck (HELMTT) program
System provided 225 kW of peak power via Lithium-Ion battery pack
The power system received 208 VAC 3-Phase power from an onboard generator and distributed it to water pumps, chiller, battery charger, and even the laser itself
Additionally, it generated both 24 and 275 VDC power for the various electronics.
Enhanced power system stability by implementing effective monitoring and control strategies.
Reduced operational risks by conducting thorough system analyses and identifying potential issues.
FPGA Design
Developed embedded security technologies utilizing Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA), System-On-Chip(SoC), and secure microcontrollers
Utilized Xilinx Virtex-II Pro, Virtex-5, Virtex-7, and Zynq FPGA/SoC
Designed and implemented Cryptographic Functions: 256-bit AES-GCM Encryption and Decryption, Reed-Solomon Error Correction
Implemented various video processing algorithms operating from 100 to 350 MHz
Designed and implemented standard video interfaces: HotLink, BT656, Camera Link (Base and Medium), Fibre Channel, NTSC, RS170 and RS343
Manage a group of 36 engineers working in the electrical, mechanical, software, and optical design disciplines
Responsible for the accuracy of their timecards and approve them on a bi-monthly basis
Assess and conduct personnel reviews as well as recommend yearly raises based on those reviews
Work with program leads to appropriately staff programs and identify hiring needs
Arrange and Conduct interviews with prospective engineers
Interface with other groups within Radiance such as Human Resources, Information Technologies, and Facilities so that the engineers have the tools, training, and any other resources they need to improve their efficiency, job satisfaction, and overall moral.
