Company Overview: Maury Regional Medical Center is a 255-bed facility in Columbia, TN.

This hospital has a top-rated orthopedic program, and was rated the #1 orthopedic surgery program in the state of Tennessee. I work hand in hand as an orthopedic surgical technologist and a certified first assistant. I prepare the ORs for the procedure. I make sure the case carts are pulled correctly, and that our rooms are stocked with everything we will need for the day. I pull all the vendor trays needed for each procedure. I assist during the procedure by providing retraction, hemostasis, closing the wound, and applying the dressing.

In 2018, I was asked to take an interim position as the Sterile Processing Manager. The interim position became a permanent position in January 2019. The department employed only six staff members and one manager.

I pride myself on building an excellent team with an additional six employees and two coordinators. The knowledge from the O.R. That I was able to bring to this department was key in making the department successful. I was able to teach them from a different point of view. We processed every tray as if it were being used on our loved ones. I was their manager, but I managed them all differently because not everyone responds to the same management style. The hospital implemented the Censitrack instrument tracking system in August 2019. This helped to clean up count sheets and helped the O.R. Staff and SPD should keep better track of their instrument trays.

I held this position from October 2018 until January 2022.

I went back to the O.R. In January of 2022, I still help when I can in this department.

At Williamson Medical Center, I worked in Labor and Delivery. I had the privilege of assisting with many deliveries, both vaginal and cesarean. I brought patients back and put them on the monitors. I transported patients from the E.R. to L&D, and from L&D to the patient discharge area. I helped in the nursery doing circumcisions, and with anything else that they may have needed. I stocked the delivery rooms and Ohio beds for upcoming deliveries.

Company Overview: The Surgery Center of Middle Tennessee is an orthopedic outpatient surgery center.

Within the center, they also performed cataract procedures.

I assisted in the orthopedic procedures, as well as the cataract procedures. We performed ACLs, shoulder arthroscopies, knee arthroscopies, ankle and hand arthroscopies, ORIFs, and traumatic injuries. I set up the operating room for various surgical procedures, ensuring cleanliness and sterility. I pulled cases daily, stocked rooms, and prepared rooms for the next day's procedures.

The Surgery Center of Columbia is an outpatient surgery center specializing in GYN, General, ENT, Urology, and Cataract procedures. I scrubbed all specialties. After the procedures I processed the instruments and prepared them for sterilization. I pulled supplies for the next day's cases and prepared the operating room for the next day.
