PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN

  • I currently work on the Neuroscience unit which deals with stroke patients, spinal injuries, tumors, etc.
  • Many of my patients are dependent so I am responsible for changing their linens, bathing them, and helping them with the bathroom.
  • Along with basic needs I am responsible for grabbing blood sugar readings, charting data, and gathering vitals for nurses.
  • The neurology unit has the most on-call therapists in the hospital, so I help them with rehabbing patients by walking, repositioning to a chair, and re-teaching them activities of daily living.
  • The goal is to enhance patient satisfaction by providing compassionate and attentive care.

Activities

I played many team sports growing up and have always been a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chiefs.
