I am an aspiring journalist passionate about informing readers through creative and well-researched articles. My experiences with various publications have honed my writing skills, better enabling me to create content that inspires and resonates with audiences.
I write for two sections of the UCSB student newspaper. On the editorial team for the arts and culture section, I mostly cover events that are hosted through the university and in the Santa Barbara area. I also write for La Vista, the Spanish section of the Daily Nexus; I write articles in Spanish and translate articles from the English sections.
I pitch ideas each meeting and write weekly articles for publication on my decided topic.
I contributed to a projected headed by legal scholars and the Chilean government. I was responsible for reviewing police reports filed by those injured or otherwise impacted during 2019 Chilean Estallido Social. The goal was to quantify the number of victims, which will allow us to better understand what happened and how to compensate victims.
I participated in a human rights focused study abroad program during fall semester 2023. This exchange placed me in Buenos Aires, Argentina for two months and then Santiago, Chile for another two months. The opportunity not only immersed me culturally and linguistically, but also provided me with various research opportunities. In November 2023 I presented a research project that centered on propaganda and misinformation at the Conference on Human Rights Transitional Justice & Social Justice in Santiago, Chile.
