Dedicated professional with extensive experience at Charles Blalock & Sons, excelling in welding and maintenance. Proven problem-solver with strong time management skills, adept at troubleshooting complex issues. Recognized for fostering teamwork and maintaining safety standards while enhancing productivity in high-pressure environments. Proficient in MIG, Stick, and TIG welding techniques. Has experience with long working hours outdoors at all times of the day/night, and experience working on call with 1 hour to be on the job.
Keeping an entire business operational is a daunting task for anyone. It can be stressful at times, but I thrive in stress. The concrete industry is adamant for working at all times of the day and night. Working extremely long shifts and being on call comes second nature in this line of work. I have a crew of 3 that work under my supervision and help perform tasks on a daily basis. Making everyone feel appreciated and not making them scared to ask questions when they don’t know are my 2 most important things when it comes to running my crew. A workplace where you and your coworkers don’t get along is a recipe for disaster.
Reading prints and plans is a major part of this position due to installing new plants. I have assembled and installed two plants and have extensive experience in reading prints to assemble steel, silos, belts, pumps, rollers, electrical wiring, and plumbing.
I have deep experience troubleshooting and repairing
belts, pumps, rollers, electrical wiring, and plumbing.
Common daily tasks include repair and rebuilding of motors and gearboxes.
Plumbing issues are the number one call I receive daily. Main line leaks underground and water meter problems are the major tasks I am given to repair. Valves, fittings, and essential indoor plumbing are still very regular on a day to day basis.
Rebuilding water pumps and boilers are a very common issue as well. Pumps are run year round to distribute water to all parts of our plants. Boilers are used in the cold months. Without regular maintenance to these business could not carry on production.
Welding and fabricating plumbing material is a major part of this responsibility, as most of the plumbing used on plants is steel. I have fabricated 2 water manifolds and laid/installed out all plumbing in 2 plant builds.
I have extensive experience in operating heavy equipment while in this position as well. Whether it be digging trenches and ditches to lay pipe or as simple as running a front end loader. I have hundreds of hours in the cab of a machine.
I have worked for myself as a plumber since high school, the original plan was to start a business myself but being young and having no real world experience on building clientele I got a job but have continued on my own in side work for years.
