Work History

Student

University Of Alabama In Huntsville
08.2019 - 05.2024
  • Currently employed by the UAH Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education as a contracted Research Assistant.
  • Senior Design Project - Secured a medically oriented network using an innovative application of blockchain technology. Collaborated with a small team of cybersecurity engineering students and a professional mentor in the field to experience the development process of a software project in an industry setting. Currently in the process of developing a mobile application to run the prototype, which is on track to be deployed in April 2024.
  • Software Assurance - Collaborated with team members to write a 700-line program and used quality-checking tools to analyze its security. This included fuzz testing, static analyses, dynamic analyses, and a memory leak analysis. We then documented the results, analyzed them, and improved our program to reach a 90% mandatory pass rate according to CERT-C 2016 qualifications.
  • Network Security - Used Wireshark, Nmap, and password cracking tools like Hashcat to sniff networks. Researched the different types of cyber attacks such as MITM, brute forcing, injections, and DOS. Used virtual machines and SSH in order to access Linux machines from a Windows operating system.
  • Object-Oriented Programming and Software Design - Collaborated with teammates to create 500-line projects through phases of planning, designing, implementing, and integrating code in C++ and Java. Learned and experienced the process of team-based programming from a software engineering perspective. Extensively explored the Linux operating system and its commands.
  • Software Reverse Engineering - Learned to use tools such as IDA Pro, Windows Debugger, Ghidra, OllyDbg, 010 Editor, and Process Hacker to analyze malware and C/C++ programs. Traversed internal structures and formats such as PE files to exploit Windows vulnerabilities.
  • Embedded Systems - Learned the internal processes of the TI MSP-430 board and programmed it to complete micro-tasks.
