
Responsible for development of policies and procedures governing flight medicine, preventative medicine and occupational medicine and establishment of medical standards for personnel and determination of recommendation on waivers. This includes direct medical care and examination for Air Crew, Air Traffic Controllers, Misseliers, and Special Operations personnel while managing disorders and injuries peculiar to flight and austere environments. Effectively serves as liaison between squadron leadership and medical services. This examination includes initial and annual evaluation for fitness for flying and special duties and employing preventative health measures while evaluating members living and working environments to detect and control preventable health hazards. Serves as liaison for aeromedical evacuation and participates in flying missions of aircrews assigned. Trained in USAF Aircraft Mishap Investigation board to analyze human, organizational, technical, and physiological factors contributing to aircraft mishaps and address very specific areas of safety concerns. In addition, managing casualties that result from aviation accidents and other disasters.
Responsible to deploy regionally and nationally to conduct command and control, casualty assistance, search and extraction, decontamination, medical triage and stabilization, and fatality search and recovery to save lives and mitigate human suffering during natural or man-made disasters including: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or terrorism. Integrates into joint operations with Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Teams (WMD-CSTs) and CERFPs, as well as federally-controlled elements of the enterprise. Medical responsibilities include directing triage care and providing trauma resuscitation and other life sustaining care while coordinating aeromedical evacuation at the state and federal level.
Monitors and directs health services programs. Interprets and directs the implementation of policies governing health services programs. Directs the management of health services functions such as medical logistics, fiscal management, managed care, human resource management, patient administration, aeromedical evacuation, medical facility construction, modification, and design, and medical research administration. Develops financial plans and budget estimates for Air Force health services programs. Directs the preparation of biometric reports, directives, correspondence, and memoranda pertaining to health services administration. Controls utilization of health services program funds in collaboration with the medical commander and comptroller. Prepares and exercises emergency, disaster, and defense plans, and monitors readiness training. Integrates cost management, quality and access to care issues into health services programs. Serves as member of Commander's Support Staff. Completes aviation medicine physical examinations, waivers, duty limiting condition examinations, preventative health physical examinations for over 1000 military personnel, and responsible for awards and decorations submissions and review. Officer in charge of Laboratory Services which is responsible for drawing and accounting for over two dozen laboratory tests ensuring proper processing, accountability, and tracking.
Strategically manage passenger and cargo handling operations for a C-130 military aircraft. Manage load planning through the analysis of documentation and manifests. Reference a variety of manuals to ensure standards are enforced and upheld when executing tasks. Communicate effectively with numerous air terminal representatives to ensure the expedited movement of personnel and cargo, thus increasing efficiency. Use mathematical formulas to calculate the weight and balance of the aircraft and allowable movement of cargo under emergency situations. Oversee safety regulations among passengers and ground personnel. Maintain proficiency in knowledge of job duties. Employ equipment and personnel airdrops in a deployed location under combat conditions. 640 hours.
Manage physician workflow through documentation, coordination between hospital departments and time management. Trained in Heartland Regional Medical Centers electronic records system and worked side by side with emergency medicine physicians documenting patient history, medical examinations, diagnosis, procedures performed in the emergency department, and the disposition of the patient. Proved instrumental in the coordination of different hospital specialties to ensure quick transfer and evaluation of the patient ensuring the highest of quality of care.
Notified next of kin that their loved one had passed away. Arranged for the transportation and disposition of remains from the site of death to the final place of internment. Ensured mortuary entitlements, escorts, and military honors are arranged. Established and maintained mortuary case files. Plans and coordinates visitation and funeral services as well as the inspection of the remains. Worked technical mortuary functions such as supervising teams for the search and recovery of human remains. A Key facilitator in maintaining and managing $150 million worth of equipment. Revamped and organized records system and accountability of government assets with 100% financial accuracy. Postured 65 unit personnel for contingency/war time deployments. Managed and supervised Unit Control Center for Search and Recovery mortuary affairs exercises. Managed a merger of two military squadrons consisting of more than 2,000 civilian and military personnel.
