Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the responsibilities of the nurse intern are:
1. To provide care delegated to them by an RN or MD that meets the individual needs of
campers, patients, and staff that are consistent with the Health Center Credo.
2. To reliably complete assigned tasks including:
a. Health screening prior to start of each camp
b. Collect and administer medications under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, after completing a pharmacology or medication administration course
c. Administer first aid at recreation games according to their first aid/cpr certification
d. Maintain first aid kits and perform AED checks throughout camp
e. Learn practical nursing skills in a “clinic”/public health setting
f. Develop professional relationships; including, nurse-to-nurse, nurse-to-patient, nurse-to-doctor, and nurse-to-EMT
g. Complete Saturday morning inventory and stocking
3. To report safety and/or wellness concerns to the nurse or nurse manager
4. To successfully complete orientation/training prior to assuming the role
5. To cooperatively work with other staO to minimize/eliminate health & safety risk
6. To adapt to a constantly changing environment with flexibility, a servant’s heart, teachable spirit and a willing “can do” attitude
Cared for small animals in feeding, exercise, and cleaning. Cleaned veterinary surgical tools using autoclave. Kept overall cleanliness and environment nice in the kennels.
