Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of pursuing my post-graduate certification in psychiatric/mental health is to further my education which will allow me to provide more extensive psych care to the women and adolescent girls that I care for daily in my practice at Acadiana Women's Health Group. In women's health, we function as primary care for many patients who do benefit from psychiatric care and with learning more about the field, I can provide comprehensive care to them without referring out. I have been a preceptor to many NP students from various universities for 15 years and adding to my knowledge base will help provide them with a greater database in psychiatric patient care.

Began working on GYN/Postpartum floor as a nurse's aide,
while in nursing school. Once I graduated with a BSN, my
role changed to a floor staff nurse caring for postpartum
patients, as well as post-operative hysterectomies,
mastectomies, breast reconstructions, cholecystectomies
, and C-sections. I also participated as a member of the
bereavement team which counseled patients during the
loss of their precious loved ones. I also working in the
well baby nursery, NICU, pediatrics unit, out-patient
surgery, and on occasion the pediatric ER.
