  • I began volunteering as a docent at the State Law Library in June 2022, conducting tours of the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building for visitors and school groups.
  • In September 2022, I began working part-time on the development and implementation of a plan for a Judicial Learning Center in Alabama. This center will feature interactive displays and activities tailored for various age groups to foster learning about the government, specifically the judicial branch, and civics education.
  • I conducted research on judicial learning centers nationwide, consulting with coordinators to gather insights on project development and funding. Collaborated with the Alabama Building Commission to determine necessary adjustments for the designated space and to plan further development steps. I created a project proposal and established two committees of stakeholders to ensure ongoing communication and support from both the building occupants and state court judges. Presently, I am collaborating with a national company to define the project's scope, including budget, display types, and a timeline, in preparation for a final proposal. This proposal will facilitate the selection of an architectural firm and a general contractor to construct the center. Additionally, I am reviewing available grants and actively seeking funding sources to accelerate the project.

  • My role included implementing modern case management systems at all court levels and serving on IT Steering Committees to oversee these implementations.

  • I prepared the annual state judicial budgets, maintained compliance, and managed the distribution of funds appropriated by the legislature to the courts, including fiscal records for all 41 judicial circuits, process vendor invoices, and travel claims for court officials and personnel.
  • I provided data analysis and disseminated annual caseload studies to courts, executive and legislative branches of government, national agencies, and the public.
  • I acted as a liaison between the judiciary and legislature for the development and passage of bills and the annual budget. I also served as a liaison between the judiciary and the Governor and cabinet members.
  • My role included recruiting, training, and evaluating court personnel, as well as providing education and training for all elected and appointed officials and personnel in the court system to ensure the highest quality of professional development.
  • I maintained a comprehensive database of all court records and responded to inquiries from the public and media. I developed and published bench books, handbooks, and manuals for court officials and personnel, assist judges, court administrators, and clerks with jury management issues, and serve as a liaison with the Alabama State Bar and its numerous committees.

  • I supervised Judicial Volunteer Programs that engage citizen volunteers to mediate small claims and juvenile court issues, which includes managing training and funding negotiations for local coordinators and volunteers.
  • I oversaw the Court Improvement Project and the certification of Guardians ad Litem for dependency cases, maintaining a roster of certified GALs for judges, and collaborating with the Department of Human Resources, appellate and juvenile court judges to minimize the duration and number of children in foster care.
  • I managed the Access and Visitation Program, employing local mediators to help divorcing or unmarried parents develop parenting plans.
