Impact of Pharmacist-Driven Opioid Stewardship on Prescribing of Oral Opioids in
Clinically Ill Patients

This project aims to assess whether an ICU pharmacist-led opioid stewardship program reduces oral opioid prescribing in previously opioid-naive, critically ill patients during care transitions. Students will collect data on patient characteristics, inpatient opioid use, and discharge prescribing. We expect to see reductions in opioid prescribing at ICU and hospital discharge, overall opioid use, and duration of therapy.
