  • Repair, replacement, cable grounding and dedication of cable pairs to customer homes. This process is the backbone to the Uverse system.
  • The job requires a technician to be able to replace old telephone terminals(both aerial and buried) to specification by dedicating phone lines, upgrading cable and terminal bonding(grounding) and updating cable records to be faxed in.
  • Reading engineering maps is a must to be successful and efficient in completion of projects in a timely and effective manner.
  • Testing and advanced testing of telephone lines to judge cable quality to support Uverse digital television service, DSL and normal telephone lines.
  • By using a pair of testing equipment connected to a laptop, I would identify the pair to be tested, attach the testing equipment to the phone line and begin the test.
  • After all testing is completed, documentation must be kept on failed and passed pairs by using Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced testing involved multiple technicians at a job site and with the use of radios we would communicate back and forth with each other to attempt to repair failed cable pairs and retest pairs.
