Cameron Crane

As an ambitious learner working towards a lifelong career in astrophysics, programming, data-science, and space-science, my passions lie in physics, astronomy, and game design, all of which I have several years of experience working in.

I have given several research presentations during my time as an undergrad, including a presentation at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Astrophysics Conference (MARAC), and have worked with data/documentation from 8 different NASA missions over the course of 6 years (these being the Van Allen Probes, Ulysses, Voyagers 1 & 2, Cassini, Galileo, Advanced Composition Explorer, and Interplanetary Monitoring Program missions).

My dream is to learn as much as I possibly can in my lifetime, and use what I have learned to inspire and benefit others. This dream spills over into all areas of my life, and as a result, I tackle all problems I face with ambition and excitement.

• Mathematics: 6+ years of higher level calculus and mathematics, including differential equations, linear algebra, and other higher level subjects.
• Physics: 6+ years of higher level physics including quantum mechanics, electromagnetic theory, thermodynamics, general/special relativity, astrophysics, and more.
• Programming: 10+ years of programming experience using C#, Python, and minor languages. My projects involved data production, general data science, and physics simulations.
• Web Development: 6+ years experience using HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and general graphic design.
• Laboratory Work: Extensive laboratory work involving electrodynamics, electronic circuit design, optics, atomic physics, quantum mechanics, and more.
• Game Development/Design: 10+ years game development experience as a hobbyist. I have taken part in several Global Game Jam events to improve and refine my programming/design skills.
• Graphic Design: Adobe Creative Suite training, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign, plus 6+ years experience using similar programs.
• Public Speaking and Leadership: Gave several research presentations at astrophysics colloquiums and NASA conferences directly representing my prior workplace. Was the founder, team-leader, and organizer of Squigglybit, Kansas City’s largest indie game-development studio.
• Research Projects: Programmed a simulation of Earth’s magnetic field & unique particle interactions, wrote a program that would be used to find the ideal shape for a detector being installed in the Large Hadron Collider, and simulated 8000+ galaxies with the Milli-Millenium Project to analyze their galactic variables.
