My career gap while it was unplanned it was the best option for my family during the pandemic. March of 2020 while on spring break with my then high school freshman son the world seemed to be shutting down. Once we returned from spring break in California my husband and myself decided it would be best for me to stay at home with our 2 high school age children as there was no school. We felt it was best for me to supervise them and help them through this difficult time. During the time I spent at home with the kids I decide to do some online learning myself. I obtained a Covid-19 Tracing certificate from John Hopkins. I wanted to become familiar with what the world was. I also Obtained my CHW (Community Health Work) Certification. This was 160 hours online course. I learned a lot about humility and meeting people where they are. After I finished the CHW course I decided to learn Phlebotomy as well. While I was able to complete the classroom portion of the class the clinics were not possible. Phlebotomy is very interesting, however I will not pursue a career in the field. What we thought at the time would only be a brief break from our reality ended up being much longer it was indefinite. Im like new. Now my youngest has gone off to college and I am excited to return to the world of working.
I needed to have my meniscus cleaned up in both of my knees and also ACL work done on the left knee. I had wear and tear from being an athlete, and doing CNA work took a toll on parts of my body as well. I am all good now.
