As an apprentice lineman my job was to master the basics and fundamentals of mission essential equipment and building materials while adhering to OSHA parameters and completing each task with safety at the forefront of each job. Every day was something new which allowed me to broaden my knowledge of high voltage distribution and being hands on with any and all hand tools that come along with the job. I would assist in setting temporary service lines for new builds, new meter sets on residential homes, splicing in new wire on downed lines, assembling/installing transformer pots 120/240,120/208,277/480 etc., preventative maintenance work on reconduct jobs swapping out number 2 ACSR wire to 336 in preparation for growth to come in up and coming towns. I also had hands on experience with underground cabinets as well and the fundamental safety procedures for grounding before doing any switching. I had hands on experience of the start to finish procedures of setting in new poles from operating the line truck to use the auger for digging to set the pole to using the winch line and properly catching off the pole and using all hand tools needed to properly dress the pole.

As a Wastewater Treatment Operator knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules and regulations were paramount. My daily tasks ranged from maintenance operations of a treatment facility plant to daily lift station checks and repairs on the three phase pumps, operational boards, and SCADA. I have the firsthand experience in an industrial setting with handling wastewater spills, rain water run off, sampling MLSS and RAS collections daily for EPA compliance. With my knowledge and experience i was able complete my daily tasks at hand in accordance with EPA and OSHA regulations and help aid in the development of safety policies and procedures and help train new employees on day to day tasks with safety in the forefront of each and every decision.

As a Soldier i learned to ultimately be apart of a team and learn that a unit is only as strong as its weakest link. With that mindset at hand, i mastered my trade of combat to the best of my ability and made it my job to train my team that i was in charge of. I lead by example and preached the fundamentals and mastery of mission essential duties which were first and foremost physical capability and currency and competency of our battle drills. I truly believe to be an exceptional leader you have to have buy in by your team and peers. That is not given. It is earned each day by leading by example and having a selfless mindset of putting the team in the best position to succeed at all costs.
