I was employed at Merit Gage, Inc. for just over a year. I would like to take this opportunity to elaborate on the kind of work I did while I was there:
During my time at Merit Gage, Inc. I was in the cylindrical grinding department. Cylindrical grinders are very similar in their function to lathes; the work is held between a headstock(which most of the time included a center, not a chuck or collet) and tailstock center, and the work is spun between these holdings during operation. The main difference is the tooling used to complete the operation, which, in the case of a cylindrical grinder, is an abrasive wheel, not single-point cutting tools that are typical of lathes.
