In 2020 and for a portion of 2021, I performed as a float pool nurse during the height of COVID and assisted with caring for patients in different units of the hospital, depending on staffing or care needs.
In June of 2021, I put my priority into the continuum of care for my patients and chose to accept a full-time night position on 6.2, which specializes in oncology, end-of-life or hospice care, and general med-surg. In June 2023, I switched to a full-time day shift.
Stepped into the role of Charge Nurse on the night shift in 2021 and assisted my unit in operating at its full potential in a safe and effective manner. As a charge nurse, it was my responsibility to oversee the other nurses, the PCAs, and the well-being of thirty patients on our busy unit.
Training new grads and oncoming RNs, and helping them develop essential skills for their future careers.
Collaborated with physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Counseled patients and caregivers, providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support.
Mentor for a high school student in 2023 aspiring to become a nurse and provided a well-respected shadowing experience.

As a nurse on 6.2, I have learned the essential skills that are required to handle any situation in a stressful and chaotic environment.
