Affiliations

  • Volunteered hundreds of hours as an assistant coach for varsity basketball at Pentwater High School (who need staff and coaches) during my gap semester in the fall of 2022 (November-January). Here I learned to foster a community and create a safe, positive environment for younger kids. It also taught me valuable lessons on being a role model, and the positive effects putting time into others can have.
  • Volunteered many hours as an assistant varsity track coach after my first semester at MSU (May-June 2023) and this past summer (May-June 2024). Here I learned the importance of coaches and leaders in communities that don't have the resources for multiple coaches. I was able to help coach and teach many different aspects of track to athletes who otherwise might not have been able to get a coach's help in a given practice due to lack of coaches.
  • Solo traveled to Europe in my gap semester (September-November 2022). Explored 10 different countries on my own enveloping myself into rich new cultures and people. Began learning German afterwards to be able to understand locals and the culture better in the future. My travels began an even bigger desire to learn and understand as much of the world as possible and encouraged me to be more open to new experiences.
