While working at CCCSD I have obtained my OIT certification.
As a OIT I do my fare share of specific jobs/ work orders that give me hours to help receive my Grade 1. When we clock out at 3pm I choose to stay after hours as voluntary work to learn the plant to get great 1 on 1 time with the Operators.
Day to Day for my voluntary work I am able to choose inside or outside which are two very different but similar duties.
To obtain skills and knowledge inside our Solids building as a upcoming operator I am required to learn starting our cook offs getting samples from our AUX (Auxiliary) Boilers, Cogen, WHB (waste heat boiler), and Daft tank samples.
As to being a OIT outside we start our rounds checking our pump and blower (P&B), getting our settleables from our A&N tanks checking samples from our filter plant making sure our sodium Hypochlorite is a happy medium. Then ending it with a Grit Pump check and dipping our primary's to check the level of the sludge blanket.
