Camryn Stotesberry

Passionate and inquisitive student with aspirations of becoming an informed, creative, and collaborative physician-scientist. Intrigued by the mind and cognition, specifically related to memory consolidation, psychiatric disorders, and abstract thinking. Fascinated by psychophysiology and the evolution of the human brain. Hoping to explore the benefits of social behavior and interactions with nature in improving mental health and performing therapy. Experienced in healthcare and science, serving as a CNA and PCT, student observer, and laboratory assistant. First-generation college graduate who hopes to use resources and experiences from my undergraduate career to encourage individuals from lower socioeconomic communities, such as my hometown of Hopewell, Virginia, to pursue higher education.

• Student Peer Mentor: You-First at VCU (02/2023 - 12/2023). Completed mentorship training with Julie Nguyen, First-Generation Student Success Graduate Assistant, then mentored 5 undergraduate First-Generation college students for the duration of the Fall semester.
• VCU Health Student Volunteer: (2023) Volunteered weekly as a visitor greeter in the Surgery Trauma ICU from February to April and as a Stocking Assistant in the Acute Neuroscience Unit from June to August.
• Children's Miracle Network Hospital Volunteer: (2021-23) Participated in annual fundraising weeks for the CMNH, hosted by my women's fraternity, Phi Mu.
• Shalom Farms Volunteer: (2023) Volunteered weekly as a farm hand for Shalom Farms, a food justice organization that provides 14 communities in the Greater Richmond area with nutritious and affordable produce.
• Hands On Greater Richmond Foundation Volunteer: (2022) Helped maintain a community garden for the nonprofit Girls For A Change (GFAC).
