In the RN Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist role I review the medical record documentation concurrently for completeness and accuracy. This includes review of disease process, diagnostic findings, and what documentation might be missing. Additionally, this position requires collaboration with Providers on documentation and the Coding Team on DRG assignments.

• As the Nurse Manager of the Surgical Specialties Unit I oversaw the daily activities related to scheduling, staffing, budget, and staff-education
• I was responsible for ensuring processes that deliver safe and efficient high-quality care to our patients

• In addition, I led a multi-disciplinary team in developing an Intermediate Care Unit, which opened in October 2018.

• In this position, as Interim Nurse Manager I oversaw the daily activities for the Medical and Surgical units related to scheduling, staffing, budget, and staff education
• I was also responsible for ensuring processes that deliver safe and efficient high-quality care to our patients
• In this role as a professional nurse leader, I led by example, I demonstrated excellent communication skills, and placed a high value on personal integrity.

• During this time I had the pleasure of supporting the Surgical Specialties and Medical Specialties departments as an Assistant Nurse Manager.
• In this role, I helped manage both units by assisting in quality initiatives, staff education, advocating for quality patient care, along with providing support to the Nurses, allowing them to practice to these standards
• This involved being on several committees; a few include, Safe Patient Handling, Surgical Site Infection drill downs, and Post-operative glucose management
• I also enjoyed co-teaching the Total Joint Classes
• I continued doing the staffing/scheduling, timecards and assist with productivity management as well.

• I served as a lead charge nurse on the Surgical Specialties Unit from 2012-2015
• I have also served as a resource to the patients and nurses during my 13 years of diverse medical/surgical nursing experience with emphasis on surgical patient care
• As a lead charge nurse, I was responsible for all the scheduling and time card management for our department, along with daily standard work confirmation that supported our quality measures
• I also assisted with productivity management during this time.

• During this time, I worked as CNA while attending Nursing School
• I performed tasks within the CNA scope of practice.
