Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, vision, and direction for a $30M nationwide, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization representing state heads of elementary and secondary education in all 50 states, District of Columbia, Department of Defense Activity, and five U.S. territories.
• Ensure the organization is a critical partner for chiefs and their state education agencies for policy development and implementation of innovative education improvements in their states.
• Serve as the voice of state chiefs on a national platform through media, interviews, op-eds, speaking at public events to a wide variety of audiences, all while reflecting the diverse positions of the chiefs.
• Contribute to and influence the national dialog on education issues through advocacy, coalition building, and fostering policies and activities that improve K-12 education.
• Inspire and motivate chiefs to take collective action on complex education issues by facilitating nonpartisan discussion that puts kids at the center.
• Lead and inspire 65 full-time staff members and set the conditions for an inclusive and diverse workplace culture that attracts and grows talent.
