Care for clients receiving chemotherapy, biotherapy, neulasta, neulasta-on-body, chemo injections, therapeutic phlebotomy, blood transfusions, triple lumen dressing changes. Also intense family teaching, patient teaching, referral to social work as needed. Active member of the Oncology Nursing Society. Drawing of labs prior to chemotherapy and ensuring safety of administration. Hydration as needed, often on a scheduled basis. Transfer of acutely ill patients to the hospital.
Delivered safe nursing care to 2 to 3 patient / day in the ICU and assisted doctors with in-room bronchoscopies, intubations, insertions of arterial lines, balloon pumps. Worked as a charge nurse on a rotational basis once a week and worked on the CODE team once a week throughout the hospital. Trained for open heart at St. Joseph's Hospital in Joliet, Illinois for OPEN HEART and I was able to successfully care for open heart patients transferred straight from the operating suite to the ICU.
