Food Runner
La Grande Boucherie
Washington, US
12.2023 - 04.2025
Company Overview: La Grande Boucherie DC is an upscale French steakhouse located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., just one block from the White House. The restaurant is set inside a beautifully preserved historic bank building, showcasing grand chandeliers, towering ceilings, and intricate architectural details that highlight its original 1920s design. Designed to emulate the elegance of a Parisian brasserie, the restaurant could accommodate over 450 guests, and it sees well over 500 to 700 guests on a busy night.
Must be able to properly carry a loaded tray and walk it up five flights of stairs to the second floor, ensuring that food is delivered in an orderly and timely manner.
Ability to follow instructions, remain composed under high pressure, and act as both a team player and a leader when needed.
The kitchen operates in a tight, high-intensity environment, with food expected to be delivered within a 7-15 minute window.
Responsible for setting up the expo line with plates, retrieving them from downstairs, and ensuring nothing falls or breaks. Plates are large and heavy, requiring physical strength and coordination.
Must follow all steps of service and ensure each guest receives consistent hospitality and the same joie de vivre experience.
By far the busiest and most physically demanding restaurant I've ever worked at, with the highest rate of staff turnover I've witnessed.

Required to understand and follow the full steps of service, from greeting to farewell.
Able to carry three plates at a time, or carry plates in one hand while keeping the other hand free.
