Scientist I / Preclinical In Vivo Research

Bristol Myers Squibb
San Diego, CA
08.2015 - Current
  • Achievement in in vivo neuroscience studies through work on programs under established protocols and supervision. Animal handling, monitoring, and behavioral assessment w/rotarod, hanging wire, open field, and black box to evaluate motor function, anxiety, and movement. Conduct studies for target engagement, PK/PD, drug delivery systems, and efficacy for new molecules. Experience with stereotaxic procedures and intracranial (IC) and (ICV) in rodents, with post monitoring for behavioral toxicity assay application. Drug administration and dosing (PO, IV, IP, SQ), multiple blood collections, and sample processing. Thorough necropsies, brain dissections, perfusions, SC collection, and CSF collection. Compliance-based blood collection using retro-orbital, cheek/submandibular, cardiac, jugular, cephalic, saphenous, femoral vein. Proficient experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) model, disease induction, scoring, and dosing. Safe anesthesia induction and monitoring and post-procedure monitoring. Clear data tracking in Excel, accurate ELN and animal record maintenance, and Prism graph creation for PI presentations. Consistent monitoring of animal health and welfare in line with IACUC. Training in tissue processing, under PI supervision, for tissue homogenization, capillary depletion assays, and preparation of tissue samples for RNA extraction. Improved reproducibility and study quality by troubleshooting experimental issues. Orderly management of vivarium and laboratory supplies, equipment cleaning, work area organization, and animal ordering from approved vendors. Progress in neuroscience TRC collaboration through support of Receptos-to-Celgene-to-BMS transition and multidisciplinary research and development for new molecules. Notable contribution to Zeposia approval during Receptos-Celgene transition, supporting multidisciplinary effort for multiple sclerosis and ulcerative colitis treatment with FDA registration in October 2020 and launch in over 50 countries.
