My work experience includes working at a grocery store as a stocker/bagger during the summer of my Senior year of high school. Then during my Junior year of college at MTSU, I worked part-time (during the semester) and full time (during the summers) at a daycare as an infant teacher. I have learned and grown in compassion, patience, and work ethic through these very different jobs. I am planning to take the skills I have grown into through these jobs into my future career as a middle school or high school English teacher. Wherever I have worked I have tried my best to work with diligence and integrity.
I worked in the infant room with babies aged 6 weeks-12 months. My duties were to change diapers every 2 hours/when needed, feed the babies on an every 2-3 hours schedule, rock babies to sleep, play with them in the floor, and always ensure they were safe. We had music time, outside time, and tummy time daily. Engaged with infants through positive interactions and responses to sounds, fostering early learning and developmental communication. Supported infants' mobility development through guided activities, including rolling over, head support, sitting up, crawling, and walking. My job title was infant room teacher, but I would also help out in any of the other rooms when needed, which included toddlers, preschool, and pre-K.
I kept shelves, coolers, and freezers stocked. I also swept and mopped the store and bathrooms, and I wiped down the cafe area tables. I took out the garbage. I also washed the coffee and tea pots. Occasionally, I would help bag groceries when needed. I helped customers find the items they were looking for. I also faced/fronted the shelves and made sure all the items were displayed correctly and dusted.
