In my first three months with WGU, I served in a temporary position as an evaluator for the EdTPA team. I then moved to the Math Team in the Teachers College where I have served as an evaluator in both pedagogy and content.

  • I am responsible for the management of an eleven-person department, including hiring, course assignments, mentoring, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment of courses, and facilitating improvement plans when needed.
  • Each year, I manage the math placements of approximately 60 incoming transfer students in grades 9 through 12 through the administration of placement tests, analysis of skills, and individual family conferences to explain the placements.
  • I serve on various committees such as the Scholarship Committee, the Honors and Awards Committee, and the Appeals Committee.
  • I work closely with the Middle School Math Department chair to facilitate alignment between our courses.
  • I serve at the discretion of the Head of Upper School in various other capacities.


Honors and Awards

  • The Pauline Flemm Award 1998 (Peer balloted award for excellence in teaching awarded to one teacher per year from grades K - 12 each year.)
  • The Jane Bratton Spratt Award 2004 (Peer balloted award for excellence in teaching awarded to one teacher per division each year.)
  • Faculty Address at the Cum Laude Induction Service 2008 (Faculty and student members of the Edward J. Fox Chapter of the Cum Laude Society choose one faculty member each year to address the school.)
  • The Inlustrate Orbem Award 2022 (Award chosen each year by the Alumni Association for teachers who made a lasting impact on their lives.)

I taught all courses from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus and experienced great growth as a starting teacher. While it was not ultimately the role that I wanted to devote my career to, I was proud to have begun my career in such a fine institution. (The school is now known as The Crosland School.)
