Club Ice Hockey
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior - 14 hours per week, 26 weeks per year
I have played ice hockey for 12 years and play for Chevy Hockey. My dad put me on skates as soon as I could walk. Before high school, I played on co-ed teams, often as one of the only girls on the ice, which taught me confidence and perseverance. When I entered high school, I joined Chevy's girls program alongside Holy Child Ice Tigers varsity hockey while continuing co-ed hockey. As a freshman, I was invited to play up on Chevy's 16U team, was asked back as a sophomore, and was promoted to the 19U team this year. My teams have qualified for playoffs and earned 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place tournament finishes. I have received Defensive MVP, Team Award, and Coaches Award honors. Balancing academics, varsity hockey, and club hockey required strong time management. Chevy practices were often held late on weeknights, sometimes after varsity practices or games. Despite my busy schedule, I consistently attended and was often one of only a few players at practice. Looking forward to next year!
Field Hockey
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior - 13 hours per week, 12 weeks per year
I joined Holy Child field hockey as a freshman, excited to try a new sport. Before tryouts, I had never held a field hockey stick and borrowed equipment to give it a chance. Although I didn't know what to expect, I embraced the challenge with a positive attitude and quickly fell in love with the game. From the moment I first touched the ball, I looked forward to every practice and game. As a freshman, I was not one of the strongest players and saw limited playing time, but I stayed committed, supported my teammates, and worked to improve. I experimented with every position before discovering my passion for center forward. By the end of my first season, I had gone from playing only part of a period to an entire period. By sophomore year, my hard work earned me significantly more playing time, and by junior year I was playing the entire game. Field hockey taught me to step outside my comfort zone and trust the value of hard work. I am excited for next season.
Lacrosse
Freshman, Sophomore - 16 hours per week, 26 weeks per year
I played lacrosse for nearly 10 years on competitive travel teams. Over the years, I played for BLC, Next Level, and MC Elite. The sport gave me opportunities to compete in tournaments across the region, including destination tournaments that required extensive travel. My teams found success at many of these events, creating some of my favorite athletic memories. Through years of practices, games, and travel, I developed teamwork, commitment, and time-management skills. I played club lacrosse through sophomore year, but after my MC Elite team disbanded, the travel required for a new team was no longer practical for my family.
Although I loved the sport, the logistics became difficult to sustain. I continued playing for Holy Child and enjoyed the experience. By junior year, I pursued a new challenge through track, combining my love of athletics with my passion for running.
Track and Field
Junior, Senior - 18 hours per week, 12 weeks per year
I have loved running for as long as I can remember. I began cross country in elementary school and continued through 8th grade. Although I could not continue at Holy Child because it conflicted with field hockey, I never stopped running and still run almost every day. Over the years, I have completed races from one mile to a half marathon. One of my proudest accomplishments was when I ran a half marathon with my mom in 8th grade and placed first in my age group. This year, I challenged myself by joining track, a completely new experience. I had never trained for track, did not know what event I would run, and had much to learn. Despite that, as one of the oldest members of the team, I embraced the challenge, encouraged teammates, helped lead warmups, stretches, and runs, and worked to make everyone feel included. I am excited to continue improving and cannot wait for next season.
Varsity Ice Hockey
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior - 7 hours per week, 12 weeks per year
I have been a member of the Holy Child Ice Tigers varsity ice hockey team throughout high school and cannot wait for my senior season. In addition to varsity hockey, I also play on two club teams because of my love for the sport. As a defenseman, I enjoy the challenge of blocking shots, preventing scoring opportunities, and helping my team succeed. While I love competing, what makes hockey truly special are the people. My teammates have become some of my closest friends, and I look forward to every practice, game, team dinner, bus ride, and team-bonding event. I love being part of a team that supports one another both on and off the ice. Whether making a key defensive play, contributing an assist, celebrating a teammate's goal, or simply spending time together, hockey has given me countless memories and friendships. The Ice Tigers have made my high school experience more fun, meaningful, and rewarding, and I am excited for one more season with my team.
Tutoring Tigers Co-President
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior - 5 hours per week, 40 weeks per year
As Co-President of Tutoring Tigers, I organize meetings, coordinate tutoring efforts, and connect middle school students with academic support. Students sign up through Veracross, our school website, or reach out directly, and I work with club members to ensure they receive the help they need. In addition to leading the club, I regularly tutor middle school students, helping them with homework, projects, study guides, test preparation, and other coursework. I often visit the Academic Center during PGT to check in with students, answer questions, and offer guidance when needed. Through this role, I have developed leadership, communication, and organizational skills while helping younger students build confidence and succeed academically. Serving as President has allowed me to create a positive learning environment and make a meaningful impact within the school community.
Project Pink Tax CO-leader
Junior, Senior - 3 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
As Co-Leader of Project Pink Tax, a community-based organization that extends beyond my school, I help raise awareness about gender-based pricing inequalities and period poverty. I work with fellow members to organize educational initiatives, fundraisers, and events that support individuals who cannot afford essential menstrual products and promote greater equity within our community. One of my favorite experiences was helping organize and participate in a 10K race that raised both funds and awareness for period poverty. We all wore pink to show support and it was so much fun! This leadership role requires responsibility, initiative, and organization as I help coordinate projects, support outreach efforts, and ensure events run smoothly. Through Project Pink Tax, I advocate for issues that are often overlooked while developing leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. The opportunity to make an impact both within and beyond my school community has been especially meaningful.
Thirst Project
Junior, Senior - 3 hours per week, 15 weeks per year
The Thirst Project is a club started at Holy Child this year to raise funds for communities in Africa without access to clean water. My passion for this cause began during Experiential Learning Week when we watched a documentary about families who walk miles each day to collect dirty, unsafe water. Seeing the challenges they faced, and the joy of a community celebrating a newly built well, opened my eyes to the global water crisis and inspired me to take action. Over the summer, I brainstormed ways to bring this cause to Holy Child and even started a GoFundMe to support well-building efforts. When my friends launched the Thirst Project, I was excited to join. In May, we held a Walk for Water fundraiser. Participants donated $25 toward building a well and invited family and friends to join. We walked three miles around campus carrying jugs of water to better understand the daily reality faced by many people in Africa. Afterward, all of the water was donated.
Georgetown University Pre-College Online Program. Medicine: An inside look at treating patients
Senior - 40 hours per week, 1 weeks per year
During Georgetown University's Pre-College Medicine program (July 5-12, 2026), I explored healthcare careers ranging from bedside nursing to physician practice and gained hands-on experience with patient care. I learned the nursing process (ADPIE) and independently created a patient chart and treatment plan based on a clinical case. I studied medical terminology, diabetes, kidney failure, heart failure, kidney transplantation, and thyroid cancer. For my final project, I researched the different types of thyroid cancer, from the highly treatable papillary form to the aggressive anaplastic form. I also learned about the kidney transplant waitlist, recipient priority, and why transplanted kidneys are often left in place which means some patients can have more than two kidneys. This program strengthened my critical thinking and clinical reasoning while deepening my appreciation for the science, teamwork, and compassion behind medicine and confirming my passion for a career in healthcare.
Catholic University Nursing Institute Program
During the Catholic University Nursing Institute (July 20-24, 2026), I gained hands-on experience with fundamental nursing and emergency care skills while exploring the nursing profession. I earned CPR and AED certifications and learned how to respond to choking emergencies for both infants and adults, and how to administer Narcan during opioid overdoses. I dissected a pig heart to better understand cardiac anatomy and blood flow and studied the structure and function of the lungs. I also learned how to manually measure blood pressure with a stethoscope, take heart and respiratory rates, and perform a patient assessment, successfully passing a practical skills evaluation. This immersive experience strengthened my clinical skills, confidence, and critical thinking while reinforcing my passion for pursuing a career in nursing and patient care.
