Volunteer Experience

  • Free-Throw-A-Thon, 2023-12, Through the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, I helped plan and execute a fundraiser at Hood College that raised over $6,000 for Toys for Tots.
  • Beyond Sports Organization, 2022-07, I volunteered at a sports camp for special needs children, in Costa Rica. Through this experience, I learned how to adapt to the barriers that language and disability can cause, and to approach the individual for who they are and not based on the circumstances that they’re in., While in Costa Rica, I also helped run a soccer clinic for the Costa Rican youth. I learned how to adapt and communicate with the local children.
  • Girls on the Run Organization (GOTR), Volunteer Assistant Coach, 2022-03, 2022-05, Volunteer Assistant Coach for a GOTR team grades 3-5. I taught young girls the importance of self-esteem, positivity, teamwork, etc. through lesson plans and physical activity.
  • Special Olympics, 2022-05, Assisted participants with special needs in a Bocce Ball tournament, through encouragement and active listening.
  • Frederick Rescue Mission, 2022-04, Utilized efficient problem solving while working with other volunteers to sort food donations and assemble grocery bags for those in need.
