My Goal in life is to become a teacher. I want to teach and help inspire the next generation of students. I want to learn and gain all the experience and skills that I need to be successful in the profession that I have chosen. I worked in the main office of Our Lady of Angels Church. This is a seasonal job, where I work over summer and winter break. During this time, I would answer the phone, take messages, and interact with the people who came to the church. I would also help with booking masses and work left by the priest/deacon.
In the summer of 2022, I worked six weeks at a daycare for 25 hours a week. I worked with kids between the ages of 2-4 and I would help with meal and nap times. I would also help with getting the kids ready to go outside and take them to the park. As well as those responsibilities I would help entertain the kids, do read-aloud, and help with their lessons.
In the Summer of 2021, I worked in a school near my neighborhood and helped clean the school. I fixed up the classrooms, the bulletin boards, and the supply closets and I did some office work. The office work included contacting families, filing, coping and organizing.
I did a summer-based learning program for the younger youth for 6 weeks for the summers of 2019 and 2020. We learned about the media and about community mapping. We went on a trip and towards the end of the program, we did a project on creating our own business in our community. We learned about what skills to have when entering the workforce and what makes a good hire.
For about a year I babysat at 6-year-old. This job was bi-weekly on the weekends both Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 4 pm. During this time, I would watch her, keep her entertained, and help her with her homework if she had any. I would also take to the park and do other activities outside.
