Responsible for Psychiatric and Medical evaluation, treatment planning, medication management and discharge planning for primarily court ordered patients on a 16 bed extended care Unit. The population consists of predominately the severely mentally ill receiving state assistance Served frequently as consultant for other colleagues treating substance abuse disorders, often with co morbid psychiatric conditions.

• Documented observations, interventions and concerns in patient charts and electronic systems, sustaining continuum of care from admission through to discharge.
• Recorded comprehensive patient histories and coordinated treatment plans with multi-disciplinary team members.

• Responsible for initial evaluation, diagnosing and ongoing treatment of mental illness and substance abuse—often co-occurring for an indigenous reservation health clinic.
• Evaluated and provided medication assisted treatment —including suboxone-for a comprehensive recovery program
• Participated in interdisciplinary team activities to improve and advance the overall knowledge and skill level of clinic employees and community members.
• Utilized computerized Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Managed a schedule of 10-13 clients a day.
  
• Was able to not only impart knowledge but gain understanding of the cultural, spiritual and medicinal practices of the indigenous community served.

• Responsible for the evaluation, diagnostic and dynamic treatment planning for children and adolescents and adults in an outpatient and telepsychiatry mental health environment. Implementing and ongoing assessment of pharmacological and non pharmacological interventions
• Actively participated in collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to continuously improve client outcomes by implementing evidenced based individualized treatment.
• Completed ongoing training required by state, federal and agency guidelines.

• Provide coverage for attending psychiatrist, performing evaluations, ongoing treatment,medication stabilization, and discharge planning for patients currently hospitalized on unit
• Participate in interdisciplinary team decision making for the inpatient psychiatric care of the over 50 population
• Collaborate and coordinate with various outpatient resources to provide optimal continuity of care for this vulnerable population

• Attending for 12-16 patients admitted to an inpatient Level 1 hospital providing psychiatric evaluation with subsequent diagnostics, laboratory result review, daily follow up, pharmacological intervention, and collaboration with community resources as indicated
• At time of departure Case load consisted of primarily pediatric patients from age 4-18. Previous experience includes the adult population. Responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of mental illnesses.
• Provide medical detox when necessary for those with addiction to alcohol, opiates and/or benzodiazepines . Participated in weekly mentoring with community psychiatrist focusing on diagnostics, pharmacology, and alternative treatment options.
• Attend daily treatment planning and staffing of patients to maximize treatment and recovery in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and utilization management
• Continue ongoing education through CEU's, research publications and medical conferences
• Responsible for taking call and providing weekend coverage for the facility; screening admissions and assuring provider coverage for all patients currently hospitalized

• Continuous improvement in the assessment, interpretation diagnostic procedures, development and implementation interventions and outcome evaluation Mental health consultation with providers in a variety of settings throughout an expansive rural region
• Mental Health First Aid Instructor to help the community identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders
