  • The Forney Police Department serves a population of approximately 39,000 with growth on the horizon. The department services an area of approximately 14 square miles. The position of Chief of Police provides leadership for over 77 sworn and civilian employees with a budget of approximately $18 million annually. The leadership is demonstrated by leading through partnerships with diverse community members, relationships with elected city officials, and collaborative efforts on mutual projects with other organizations throughout the community.

Reforms, Accountability, and Employee Development

  • Took over a department with significant turnover throughout the organization. Implemented a community-based effort to reform the recruiting, hiring, and promotional process to ensure the department reflected the community.
  • Restructured the organization to support an emphasis on crime fighting and community policing strategies.
  • Re-branded the department and developed a vision statement and core values supporting our goal of providing superior police service to our community.
  • Implemented a Crime Control and Prevention District strategic plan and budget which led to the successful voter approved sales tax allotment for the Forney Police Department.

Collaborative Efforts

  • Successfully assisted the City of Forney and my department with implementing its Civil Service Chapter 143 status, which was voted in before my arrival. I provided guidance and worked with the Police Association to collaborate on a successful Meet and Confer Agreement.
  • Worked collaboratively with Forney Independent School District and the Forney ISD Police Department to draft and propose a shared services agreement for using the Forney Communications Center for services.
  • Worked collaboratively with the Kaufman County Sheriff, Kaufman County District Attorney, and Kaufman County Pct. 2 Constable to create the County's first Task Force to combat violent crime throughout Kaufman County.

Building Trust with the Community

  • Restructured and prioritized our social media policies and procedures.
  • In January of 2024, strategies were implemented to keep the public informed on a monthly basis via our social media monthly reports.
  • Created the Forney Police Citizen Connect program. The program allows citizens to log in and view selected calls for service (with a 1-hour time delay) to provide community awareness and to show transparency with the community.
  • Created our Community Engagement Section by successfully applying for and receiving grant funds via the Office of Community Oriented Police Service.

  • Successfully identified and established an alternative site for patrol operations during the COVID outbreak. Allowing for the patrol section to reallocate personnel and resources successfully.
  • Operations commander during a time of community/civil unrest.
  • Planned and organized our agency's security response to a black lives matter (BLM) protest in our community, which included over 400 participants. Successfully developed security measures during the protest to ensure protest attendees, community members, and the property within remained safe and secure.
  • Expanded our agency's "duty to intervene" policy to ensure members of my division hold each other accountable on every call, every time.
  • Current President of the Women of Law Enforcement Organization.
