Between working on my families property, Wildland firefighting, and waiting tables at an assisted living center I gained valuable skills. Yard work instilled a deep appreciation for the physical demands of labor and the quiet satisfaction of transforming a space. Wildland firefighting honed my resilience, teamwork, and ability to handle high-pressure situations while fostering a profound respect for nature's power. Working in the assisted living facility cultivated empathy, patience, and a deep understanding of human connection. Each role has challenged and strengthened me in unexpected ways, providing a diverse skillset and a rich understanding of the human experience.
Project work: this consisted of maintain forests before fires occurred. This was by clearing all Overgrown and dead plant growth, we would pile this plant material to then later burn it on a later date
Fire season: There was many roles I did last year. This included, digging direct hand line, clearing dozer line To help make the barrier between the forest and fire as safe as possible. We also where attached to a few back burning operations where we would bump in float our way down the fire line watching for spot fires in the green while we put fire on the unburnt fuels on the black side of the fire line. We also hiked in portable water tanks in location where water tankers and fire trucks could not reach. I also hiked in hose line to help give people access to water to help put out in the mop up process. Mop up happened after a back burning operation had occurred or when the fire was done burning. We would come in and help put out heat zones to make sure there was no chance for reiginition.
