I have a very outgoing and friendly personality, so I am seeking employment in a place that gives me the opportunity to talk to and help people, whether that be in person, or remotely over the phone. As my time continues with said company, I would like to be in a leadership role so I can pass on the knowledge and teach what I have learned that has helped me get to where I am.
My most recent and current job is a Firefighter/EMT-B. The training and skills learned through this job are almost identical to that of the military. One skill that is used much more in depth here, would be communication and public relations. As a first responder, we see people in need every day, and knowing how to talk and listen to them is the best way to figure out the best way to help.
After the military, I was hired as a parking lot striper. This job, like the military, requires you to flexible to both day and night work. My scope of work includes: Painting parking stalls, installing DOT signs for roadways, ensuring ADA compliance at places of business, as well as various warehouse work. I currently am still employed with this company, but only part-time, due to my full time job now being a firefighter.
I joined the Marines as an 0311 (Infantryman). Here is where I learned and mastered the majority of the skills listed on my page. Early on in my enlistment, I was promoted to the billet of Team Leader which gave me responsibility over 3-5 other Marines at all times. Due to this role, I learned very quickly how to not only lead, but also how to listen in order to ensure the best outcomes for the unit. The majority of my training related to combat preparation, but through that, I also learned skills that apply to the civilian world such as: Planning, coordination, discipline, following and giving commands, flexibility and adaptability, evaluation of peers, etc. I would confidently say, that my time in the military has prepared me well for most jobs that are out there.
I worked as a fast food cashier at my local Varsity for 2 years, with a small break in between that I took to due classes. This was my first job, and where my communication and customer service skills began. I eventually left this job because I started my enlistment process with the Marine Corps.
