For the past twenty years, I have worked for the County of Ventura as a Corrections Services Officer for the Ventura County Probation Agency. During this time, I have always found myself in a leadership role. For the past 6 years, I worked in the Work Release unit. While in this position, I held a position where I supervised up to eight individuals with varied skill levels. The majority of the work was grounds maintenance, including leaf raking, tree trimming, brush removal, and hedge trimming. Many of the tasks used different types of gas-powered equipment, hedge trimmers, chain saws, string trimmers, and blowers. I am aware of the safety measures that go along with the use of these tools and basic hand tools for grounds maintenance.
I have also been tasked with running the Graffiti Abatement Program (GAP) for the County of Ventura in its unincorporated areas using Bare Brick chemicals along with pressure washer and steam cleaner.
Prior to this position I was also in charge of a janitorial staff that conducted basic grounds keeping from lawn mowing, string trimming, and cleaning of walk ways. During this time, I was also in charge of overseeing the crew who was painting the walls and trim of the inside of a two-story building. In this same building I supervised a crew building numerous bunk beds with multiple steps.
I have also been tasked with being a facilitator between three different cities and Work Release clients. As a facilitator I would ensure that the expectation of the job was communicated and performed in a manner that was safe and productive. I am able to see potential issues before they arise and offer ways to avoid the issues.
I have experience in running tractors, skid steer, and driving many vehicles with trailers.
I also have experience in with irrigation, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical.
At this point, I am ready to move out of the law enforcement field and into a field of maintenance and operations. I feel I have many skills that will transfer over to the new field seamlessly.
