During my tenor at the Wal Mart distribution center I served in many roles and facet's but the bulk of my time, over 10 years was spent as a maintenance technician. I started out performing preventive maintenance on the 237 forklifts, many different types. Also assisting in the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the 1,000,000 square feet of building and components. To list a few; wrap machines, air compressors, fire suppression system, and environmental controls. Shortly after we received an upgraded automated system that opened the position of Multiskilled Technician and shift lead. After completing the assessment and panel interview I stepped into the role. Working d with multiple departments; Quality control, Asset protection, and every level of production. I also collaborated with other distribution centers bringing small teams with me to assist in maintenance and training whenever the need arisen. I worked directly with plant General manager and Assistant General manager on special projects and safety concerns. We accomplished numerous route cause analysis and counter measures that were implemented all the way to the national level.
I had 9 months of extensive hands on training for the service, repair, and troubleshooting of all powered and non powered support equipment. The equipment covered varied from; diesel generators, gas turbine generators, air compressors of many types, hydraulic test stands, rapid expansion air conditioners, bomb lifts, and varied non powered equipment such as test stands and hydraulic ladders. In my tenor I graduated from journeymen to technician completing training to certify other techs work. Thus being promoted to Sgt and overseeing several journeymen in real world situations such as Iraq. After 8 years and 3 tours I decided to check out civilian life.
