In my current position, I am tasked with sourcing raw forage products (alfalfa & timothy) & developing a steady & reliable supply chain for a fast-paced forage exporting business. Working with existing and newly found suppliers from Utah, Idaho, Nevada & Wyoming, I'm developing a new supply base for a new company from the ground up. Other job responsibilities include: inbound logistics, product training/analysis, as well as marketing duties.
In this position, I was responsible for procurement & shipment of raw alfalfa product from farm operations in the Intermountain regions (Utah, Idaho, Nevada) to The Gombos Company processing plants along the US West Coast. Other duties involved proper assessment & field grading of product, as well as developing & maintaining hay grower suppliers & customer relations. Additionally, I worked with outside vendor(s) for custom hay processing providing quality control & sourcing decisions based on customer requirements.
At Al Dahra ACX, I was tasked with opening up & developing new purchase regions as part of an expanding growth plan. My duties were to seek out and develop new hay grower relationships, purchasing raw product & assisting in developing a shipping network from Utah & Idaho to West Coast processing plants in proximity to the ports of Long Beach/Los Angeles, Oakland & Seattle. Additionally, I worked with salespeople for product sourcing recommendations for specific customer needs & provided field-side quality control when needed. As well, I hired, directed & managed company personnel & assets as needed to accomplish tasks necessary to field operations.
I was hired as a seasonal equipment operator and shortly thereafter I was converted to an Assistant Farm Manager reporting to a Area Farm Manager and Company Ownership on a 30,000 acre irrigated/dry land farm in Eastern Idaho. My daily routines involved checking irrigation, application of fertilizers & chemicals and equipment operation during planting & harvest involving crops such as potatoes, carrots, wheat, peas & corn. As needed, I directed, supported and managed company personnel on special projects & crop plantings requiring more than one individual to complete.
Taking advantage of an opportunity, I started a business primarily to broker alfalfa, oat hay and straw throughout the Pacific Northwest states. While operating this venture, I developed & maintained a website connecting buyers and sellers with farm equipment using my network of equipment dealers, hay growers and dairymen throughout the Western United States.
My duties were to develop and expand regions for a specialized hay equipment manufacturer throughout the Western United States and into the Great Plains. I developed a dealer and farmer-direct network for sales, attended trade shows and performed field demonstrations. For the 2004 and 2005 sales years, my regions were the top grossing areas company-wide.
For this position, I was hired to secure raw product from regional areas for shipments to overseas customers in Asia. (Korea, Japan, Taiwan) As well, I was tasked with developing a domestic retail market for hay cubes and compressed hay bales. Finally, I created a network of dairymen and hay growers throughout the Pacific Northwest to broker alfalfa and expand the domestic customer base.
