  • Serve as primary staff liaison with surgery patients from initial physician recommendation for surgery until surgery is completed.
  • Provides planning and service to patient and physicians to facilitate the scheduling and performance of surgical procedures; provides support paperwork and documentation to patients and physicians; maintains awareness of various HMO, PPO, and insurance carrier restrictions to assure all necessary criteria are met prior to surgery.

  • Set time, date and location for procedure; arrange pre-operative testing and/or exam as needed.
  • Prepare and provide pre-op patient packet either in person or by mail.
  • Advise and counsel patient regarding food, fluid and medication intake and restrictions prior to surgery.
  • Maintain excellent communication with surgery patients, including returning phone calls promptly.
  • Answer telephone lines; make, reschedule, or cancel appointments, forward or take messages as needed.
  • Schedule post op appointments as needed.
  • File surgery worksheet and chart when surgery is completed.
