The Summer Urban Health Fellowship (SUHF) is a multifaceted program that operates throughout the year to provide community-based healthcare, as well as encourage students from high school, college, and beyond to pursue careers that blend medicine with social justice.

• Volunteer at the Gardena High School Clinic, responsible for patient intake and vitals, shadowing doctors, and providing general clinic maintenance.
• Weekly Health Talks - Designing, preparing, and giving presentations to the students of Gardena High School about various medical topics.

Outreach program for high school students hosted by UCLA's Center for Excellence in Engineering and Diversity to inspire interest in math and science

• Work collaboratively within a team to conceptualize and create engaging experiments and activities tailored for students in each weekly session
• Facilitate communication between MAP and students, as well as their parents, ensuring timely updates on the application process and program developments
• Conduct informational sessions for potential participants, with a particular focus on individuals from low-income communities and underrepresented minorities in STEM fields

Sim Lab develops intelligent biomaterial by engineering live microbes in polymeric structures for tasks like drug synthesis and sensing capabilities. The UC Irvine REU made research within this lab possible.

• Formulated reagents, developed experimental compositions for desired biomaterial, and conducted additional minor experiments to support the overall project
• Presented a synopsis of the research project at the UCI Summer Research Symposium
• Acquired proficiency in utilizing equipment such as a spectrophotometer, sonicator, pH meter, centrifuge, and incubator
• Developed skills in culturing cells, pipetting, conducting acid-base extraction, ensuring lab safety, and meticulously documenting results
