Charge Nurse

• Manage department flow, staff issues, and patient assignments, including triage
• Facilitate code blue, code stroke, trauma code activation and Level I STEMI
• Prioritize activities and assignments for optimal outcomes
• Knowledge and competency in all areas consistent with department
• Collaborate with physicians, primary RN, and clinical coordinator for admissions and transfers
• Open communication with patent care team
• Sustain a healthy work environment and culture
• Perform daily equipment and system checks per department protocols

SANE (2003-current)

• Provide medical/forensic examination to patients presenting to ED for sexual assault per hospital policy and per the Washington State Guidelines
• Obtain forensic specimen collection and photography with supportive written and illustrated documentation
• Work collaboratively with Emergency Physicians, victim advocacy, law enforcement agencies, Child Protective Services, and prosecutor's office
• Assist in appropriate referrals and follow up care for the patient
• Educate patient on medication and treatments including prophylaxis
• Perform Quality Assurance including maintenance of chain of evidence
• Provide court testimony as needed
• Participation in ongoing educational activities across the state to stay up to date on current legislation and evidence-based practice
• Sought experiences to maintain clinical skills including call hours outside of regular work schedule

• Oversee the development, implementation and expansion of sexual assault care for our region
• Provide and organize continued education and training for SANEs including local and statewide updates in accordance with the Washington State Guidelines using chart and peer reviews.
• Attend and coordinate with area multi-disciplinary task force (MDT) meetings and participants.
• Provide direct care to victims of sexual assault including the pediatric and adolescent population seeking care.
• Maintain and compile program statistics, grant reports, QA, and PI projects.
• Provide public education on behalf of the organization.
• Maintain supplies, clothing and equipment necessary for performing SA exams.

Covid Crises Contract Assignment (6 weeks)

• 700+ bed Level I Trauma Center
• ICU float, 7 Covid units
• Rapid assessment and intervention of patient clinical needs
• Management of multiple life supportive medications
• Management/assistance of various methods of ventilatory support
• Evaluation and intervention of abnormal normal laboratory findings
• Collaborative work with resident and attending physicians in teaching hospital.

• Identify areas of improvement and ongoing expansion of pediatric care services
• Provide staff education, development and clinical oversight in caring for pediatrics
• Assist and facilitate care of emergency, inpatient, and outpatient pediatric patients, including decision making for optimal outcomes
• physician and nursing pediatric chart review
• Ensure staff competency and compliance with hospital pediatric policies, protocols, and procedures
• Identification/participation in pediatric quality and process improvement activities
• Coordinate care with community pediatricians and physicians for services
• Coordinate care with outlying hospitals for pediatric referrals and transfers
