Catherine Angela McNicholas

Currently facilitates and advises AP Literature and Composition, AP Language and Composition, AP Seminar, Dual Enrollment, and ERWC students in the ability to communicate well- to read critically, write thoughtfully, listen attentively, and speak by building on others' ideas and expressing their own both clearly and persuasively. Encourages creative thinking and motivates students by addressing individual strengths and areas of improvement based on formative and summative assessments.

Currently facilitates two-four sections of English 101 and English 103 per semester with an average of 25 students per semester. Actively participates in the design of the curriculum to reflect departmental goals, institutional philosophy and mission, best practices, community and societal needs, educational principles, theory and research, and use of technology. Enhances the delivery of content and the learning process by effective faculty- student interaction, and communication.

Developed and implemented daily curriculum for focusing on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading strategies. Differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring each student had an equal opportunity for success. Assessed student performance regularly using both formative and summative assessments to inform future lesson planning. As Demonstration School, hosted district and outside-district schools in support of starting their AVID programs.
