Work History

Rotarian

Rotary International

As a lifelong consummate volunteer I am very proud to be a Rotarian.

My roles have had me creating and co-chairing events such as banquets, award ceremonies, golf tournaments.

I am currently enjoying my role as a World Community Service Committee member in the Traverse City club.

I am also proud to say that I have implemented a program fostering relationships new and old in this club.

I have also re-introduced a greeters program where each week we have people greeting members as they enter the meeting.

Realtor

National Association of Realtors
04.2002 - 03.2023
  • Our regional area was one of the hardest hit during the real estate crisis of 2009 era. We had some of the highest foreclosure and short sales rates in the country. I was able to maintain top 10% status while heping people to save their properties.
  • Streamlined the process of real estate transactions by handling inspections, appraisals, repairs, and financing.
  • Built lasting relationships with clients through excellent communication, personalized service, and dedication to their needs.
  • As a top contributing author I was able to leverage social media platforms such as Lab Coat Agents, and Inman Connect as well as other online marketing strategies to increase trustworthiness, visibility and mutual collaboration.
  • Ensured compliance with federal/state laws regulating real estate transactions. I was often called upon by Attorneys to counsel clients with their real estate needs.
  • Fostered trust among clients by maintaining strict confidentiality regarding personal information.
  • Mentored new agents, providing valuable guidance on industry best practices and strategies for success in the real estate market.
  • Improved office efficiency by implementing streamlined systems for managing appointments, tracking leads, and organizing paperwork.

Executive Secretary

Police Activities League
01.2012 - 05.2022

The Police Activities League is a nationwide organization of police officers and community volunteers who work together to foster a positive environment between law enforcement and kids aged 11-15.

I first learned of this group during the summer of 1977 when I volunteered with my Uncle Tom who was a Detroit homicide detective.

  • Served as a liaison between PAL and the community through use of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok.
  • Boosted morale within the team by fostering a positive environment
  • Coordinated travel arrangements and bookings for executive board
  • Was part of a team who oversaw organization of high-profile events such as Shop with a Cop (my favorite), an annual Golf Tournament which raised an average of $50,000 per tournament, Blues Brews and BBQ, a tamale feed, a crab feed and various field trips for the kids.
  • Improved document management and accuracy of minutes and reports with thorough review and editing. Minutes of each meeting were completed and sent to Board members within one hour of end of meeting.

Competition Coordinator (Volunteer Position)

Sweet Adelines International Region 12
02.1999 - 05.2009

Sweet Adelines is an International Women's organization fostering relationships for women through the love of a capella music and performance

There are 32 regions throughout the world and each region has a competition to decide the best quartet and choruses in their region. The winner of each regional contest would then move onto the International Competition which decides who is the best of the best in each category of size of chorus and also decide one quartet who would then become the "queens."

It's all a lot of fun but VERY competitive and sometimes these women could become very catty making my job very difficult. But I loved it! My duties would include but were not limited to:

  • Coordinated logistics for a large-scale event, significantly reducing setup times and eliminating scheduling conflicts. Including load-in and break down of stages, sound, lighting all while successfully working with Union employees keeping their stewards requirements in mind.
  • Managing project timelines for successful completion, ensuring milestones were met and deadlines were adhered to.
  • Coordinated cross-functional teams, including wireless communications, working with city parking, fire department, police department, private security, private onsite EMTs, catering, private busses to transport competitors, private limousines to transport judges, resulting in seamless project execution and enhanced experiences.
  • Improved project outcomes with meticulous attention to detail in planning phases, ensuring all requirements were met well ahead of deadlines. Resulting in five star reviews throughout all of my years as Competition Coordinator.
  • Boosted team morale and productivity by organizing team-building activities and maintaining open-door policy for feedback and concerns. Including making a judge very happy for many years by removing ALL brown M&Ms from her dish because brown was not a "happy color"
  • Organized and maintained project documentation, enabling quick access to important information and facilitating smoother project transitions.
  • Enhanced team communication by implementing weekly on-line, or telephone coordination meetings and detailed project update emails.
  • Prioritized and managed multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all met their deadlines and objectives without compromising quality.
  • Resolved issues (including temperature control of an auditorium full of 1500 women) through active listening and open-ended questioning, without having to escalate to a higher manager.
  • Coordinated individual duties after careful evaluation of each volunteer's skill level and knowledge.
  • Oversaw appointment scheduling and itinerary coordination for both competitors and volunteers
  • Organized space management when we had to move from an auditorium to a hotel for competiton
  • Delegated tasks, leaving my ego behind, to administrative support staff to free up my time to be utilized more efficiently

Certified Community Associaton Manager

Pulte Homes
04.2000 - 03.2003

  • Managed an active adult community base of 770 single family homes while collaborating/cooperating with three other local CCAMs for a total of 2200 homes.
  • Responsibilites included Board meetings, communications, budgets, landscaping, security, homeowner harmony between each other, architectural control, pool maintenance, clubhouse rentals, creating and managing member excursions, onsite event management, alcohol and beverage control compliance.
  • Named one of the "Best Places to Retire" by Where to Retire Magazine, 2002.
  • Awarded the JD Power Associates customer service award 2001, 2002, 2003
  • Fostered positive relationships with local residents who in the beginning were reluctant to have this big new community amongst their midst.
  • Kept expenses well within or below budget by fostering community involvement.

Sales Auditor

Ralphs Grocery Company
05.1987 - 04.1997

This position was created for me and two other women right when scanners were introduced to the grocery business. My duties were as follows:

We worked with companies such as Coca-Cola and Nestlé to create an international scan code. We worked on a team to implement a country code, manufacturers code and an item code.

We worked with other grocery companies across the country showing how to implement scanners for checkouts including a newfangled thing called an ATM machine.

As new stores were built we would spend 2 weeks onsite to ensure pricing was at the correct ad price. Mind you, these were 50,000 Sq ft stores with THOUSANDS of items to be priced.

We worked with product placement by creating a "price for placement" of each and every product bringing the highest price possible to our company.

With existing stores if there was a significant loss showing in their quarterly statements we would audit those stores to find how and where the losses were happening.

Hobbies

My true hobby is community service but aside from that I absolutely love to lose myself in baking and have often sold my cakes and cookies at charity auctions.

I have a weakness for anything that sparkles.  Everything's better with glitter!

I love to sing in choruses and have discovered a new love of classical chorus compositions but I will always be a barnershopper at heart.

I love a good long walk and used to love surfing, weight lifting and riding horses but it's been a long time since I've done that.

I have aspirations of building what I call "funiture" making something out of nothing.
