  • As a Courtroom Deputy, I was responsible for the management of all active and closed court case. I attended daily court hearings and performed various administrative duties for the Judges, chambers staff, members of the US Marshal Service, the US Atorney’s Office, the Federal Public Defender Service, US Probation Service, Pre-Trial Services, private counsel, the parties in the cases as well as the general public. In addition, I performed case management, monthly case statistics, docketed case entries into the electronic case filing system, scheduled court hearings, drafted court Orders and facilitated the movement of criminal defendants to and from court for hearings.

  • As a criminal docket clerk, I was responsible for maintaining the accuracy of document filings as well as docket entries in all active cases for 6 Active Judges. I processed and docketed Criminal Informations and Indictments, motions, oppositions, CJA vouchers, judgment and commitments, criminal and sentencing blotters, orders and minute entries and various other criminal documents. In addition to filing, I prepared cases for transmittal to the Court of Appeals and I performed Quality Control for all filings made by both court staff, as well as attorneys. As a docket clerk, it was my duty to protect sensitive information from becoming public by ensuring that all filings made by the court were in compliance with the E-privacy Act.

  • As a docket clerk, I was responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the documents as well as all other docket entries in all active cases for 2 Senior Judges and 2 Active Article III Judges. In addition, I assisted attorneys and pro se's with filings, answered complex questions related to our Court's local rules and proper filing of documents, performed quality control for all docket entries in my cases, and executed the instructions of my Judge's orders and Courtroom Deputies in a timely manner. I also prepared and processed cases for appeal, provided the statusof cases to customers, transferred cases when necessary, opened new cases, and consulted with my Judge's staff on a regular basis for the proper statuses to many diverse, and often perplexing cases.

  • As the Miscellaneous Clerk, I was responsible for assisting customers with new case filings; answering various filing and procedural questions; docketing and verify filing accuracy of motions, oppositions, memorandums, applications, orders, transcripts, and other pleadings filed in civil, miscellaneous, and sealed cases; process power of attorneys; prepare certificates of good standing for attorneys; verify attorney membership status in our court; and process subpoenas and summonses. I performed these duties while upholding the strictest of confidentiality within each case. Also, I assisted customers with problems either at the counter, over the telephone, or via mail. In addition, I handled all Grand Jury materials, wire taps, pen registers and various other sealed important matters while maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of all case jackets as well as the database for all docket entries in these cases. I served the needs of the Chief Judge, 15 Article 3 Judges, 7 Senior Judges, and 3 Magistrate Judges, their courtroom deputies, law clerks, and secretaries to ensure that the judicial process performed both efficiently and smoothly each day.
