  • Responsible for scheduling all outpatient and inpatient surgeries for providers as assigned. Requires knowledge of hospital surgery systems, schedules and patient preparation requirements.
  • Pre-authorize surgery with insurance companies with required. Also, may give patient apt codes of proposed surgery to enable patients to check with their insurance company for their coverage.
  • Arrange pre-operative clearance with primary care providers as well as any additional pre-operative testing requested by the provider.
  • Makes additions or correction to providers surgery schedules, as patients are added or cancelled. Final surgery schedule is faxed to appropriate facility the day prior to surgery. Any additional revision is faxed as needed. A copy of the provider’s schedule is given to the clinical staff, so they are informed of patients having surgery and can make appropriate post op calls the day after surgery.
