Caylei Hallberg

I studied theatre during my time at University of Illinois with a focus in directing. In my time in the department I was able to collaborate with some of my teachers as an assistant director role. I worked as an assistant to Lisa Gaye DIxon on In the Next Room as well as Nisi Sturgis on The Wolves. I gained experience with production planning and over seeing of multiple tech aspects, I assisted with blocking, running one on one rehearsal , and testing different things for the director.

I also was involved with many student run theatre organization mainly of which was Illini Student Musicals. In the 2018 Fall season I co directed a production of Mamma Mia! This is the first time I was in charge of my own production and team. I also directed a production of Carrie the Musical in Fall of 2019. This was my solo directing debut as well as my senior thesis project where I solo managed my own production team and was in charge of making sure all moving parts flowed together. I also worked as the secretary of Illini Student Musicals in the 2019-2020 school year where I was in charge of taking notes at meetings, making executive production decisions on behalf of the board, coordinated meetings, and conducted votes on issues.
