  • I collaborated with the city manager over a 92-member city workforce serving a population of 28000.
  • I contributed to meetings, events and public forums as main city representative.
  • I executed contracts, orders and new ordinances with official signatures.
  • I successfully spearheaded the passage of major capital improvement projects such as passing a $4.2 Million street repair bond and the startup of public transportation within the city, new water, and sewer lines.
  • I worked with our city civil service commission to establish new policies related to Chapter 143 of the Tex. Local Gov. Code.
  • I attended dinners and special events to meet people and develop relationships.
  • I was the first and only Mayor of Balch Springs, Texas to travel to Washington D.C for meetings with the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to sign covenants during President Obama and Biden administration to discuss and receive funding for local community shovel ready projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
  • I solicited federal funding for local projects and programs.
  • I successfully obtained $21.1 Million in Federal Transportation Funds for new service roads and on and off ramps within our I-635 and I-20 transportation corridor.
  • I collaborated with local developers to achieve abatements and state tax credits to build projects within the city of Balch Springs
  • I was able to collaborate with U.S. then Congresswoman Eddie B. Johnson to initiate the Small Municipalities Economic Development Summit to be held annually in Balch Springs, Texas to ensure a resilient and sustained future for business retention, expansion, and attraction for the city in collaboration with the public and private sectors.
  • During my tenure as mayor, I initiated celebrations of MLK, Cinco de Mayo, and the Mayor’s Back to School Bash in Balch Springs.
