I am 24 years old and recently enrolled at the University of New Orleans. I have a history of epilepsy and a stroke in utero. Due to medical issues I left Spring Hill in 2022 to move closer to home and specialist. I am pursuing a degree in psychology in the hopes of counseling other chronically ill children and young adults. Volunteering for Hotel Hope, a women and children’s shelter, helped me understand the needs of my community in New Orleans and also give me the confidence that I could help make a difference. I also was able to use my talents in A's for ACES to teach underprivileged children how to play tennis and tutor them in their studies. I learned that children are intrigued that you can play tennis with only one hand than they move on. As a part time nanny, I have learned many skills in engaging with infants to toddlers keeping their minds and bodies active. I have worked part time for Risk Management Services as an assistant to their other full time employees. My job lately was reviewing charts for auditing purposes, this job actually helped me focus on tasks.
